I received this book for free as part of Goodreads First Reads giveawaysThis review may contain spoilersTo be completely honest this book was one of those I entered just because The cover and blurb looked interesting but I m not sure I would have zeroed in on it to buy if it was on a bookshelf in front of meI did however particularly like this book I found it really uick and easy to read and I was a bit surprised at how dark it was for a book which is meant to be for readers younger than meThe first scene in the book did succeed in pulling me in really uickly I was immediately interested in the characters and storyline and I wanted to carry on reading to find out what was going to happen to them allTime travel isn t a uniue concept and probably hasn t been for a very long time This particular take on time travel was a fairly uniue one though It did set the tone for this book to be an especially darker oneIt s interesting to read books where characters have seen their future selvesthe future selves of people they know I didn t actually see Future Davey in this book but as the other characters reflected on what he was like in the future I found myself growing concerned along with themI liked the characters but I would have liked to know about their histories Hilda was an interesting character but she did kind of keep changing personality I felt sorry for her when they went back in time though One scene in particular has stuck with me and really bothered meThere are a couple of things that have confused me about the time travel though I kind of think there was at least one thing that could have been changed or at least an attempt made to change itThe book was particularly well written and it was really nice to see proper grammar being used I m especially thinking of Blah blah blah he wondered as opposed to Blah blah blah he wondered I see the latter a lot but it isn t grammatically correctI do want to read the first book and I d like to read any in this series in the future I had to strongly resist the urge to buy Sorrowline at least until I ve read some of the massive pile of books I have

Review Timesmith Timesmith Chronicles #2

Mself in a secret world deep under the streets of 1940's London Hunted by the undead knights of the Paladin Jack must find the fabled lost sword of Durendal before it can be used to resurrect the Paladin's evil master RoulandSeparated from his friends. I read this for work haven t read the first book in the series However it was action packed well written for the 8 12 age group Great characters that make you want to learn about them too This book sets it up nicely for the next in the series but I wish I d read them in order

I received this book as a free FirstReads giveawayThis is the second book in the Timesmith series It is just as good and enjoyable as the first book The author has a way of creating new races of creatures and their uniue interaction in society and all with a level of plausibility The book ended with a good satisfying finish yet left open the avenue for book 3 I strongly recommend this series
