This book is all style and no substance Beyond the glittering surface full of dark marvels and the bright colors of autumn sleekly evoked by a stylist with a sharp eye for sonorous epithets the story lags behind confusing and full of fits and starts as epitomized by the two main characters Both are so abruptly depicted their personality so evasively brushed in little touches never amounting to a full portrait
